creating soulful, energy efficient homes & gardens

Creating CommunitiesIn 2015 we started a community for like minded owners. People who want to live in healthy, durable, efficient homes that are connected to the surrounding nature and committed to a sense of community. We explored the ideas of how they could be a modern version of traditional Maine. Beautiful and sustainable - healthy - but also socially, mentally, and physically supportive of the owners within. A deep grounding connection to the sun, the land, and the nests we create to support our tribe ~ Nesting Ground ~ A design | build collaborative.

Connecting to NatureWe are proponents of biophilic design - striving to create maximum connectivity to the natural environment. Our homes are carefully sited to share the land with the native species (plant and animal), capture the sun and "play well" with the neighbors.

Constructing the Nests“In modest harmony with nature” (the title of a Chinese woodcut) includes harmony with our own nature. A right home can do that. It can protect, heal, and restore us, express who we are now, and over time help us become who we are meant to be.” Clare Cooper Marcus from House as a Mirror of Self.
